There is a review in Cycle World about the Honda. They like it except for a few bugs. It would make a great long distance tourer with some lugage and little more horsepower. They did say that it was a bit cramped if you were over about 6'2". The low slung concept is not all new. Any one remember the Gurney Alligator?

I'm not sure that'd even be legal in Illinois.. from the looks the grips would be over the shoulders of anyone that doesn't have a disproportionally long torso.. At at least they padded that bar right in front of the seat... that could get awkward in a hard stop...

true enough, but lots of people thought............ that inline 4 cylinder concept won't take off (it developed the std for the ujm for a generation) that crazy goldwing concept, it won't go anywhere. that dopey downsized goldwing - the st1100, what market could it have? so the dn01, the fury, the rune, they may be misses, but they will change the landscape of the motorcycle industry as we know it.

it would be legal in WI because, the maximum allowable height between the handle bars and the top of the seat can only be 37 inches. Don't know how they came up with that standard (it may be 36 inches, but that would be an even yard and way to simple). and, more importantly, my height from butt to shoulder is about 24 inches, so I would be reaching up nearly a foot. Can't imagine that would be comfortable. This bike, it goes under the "cbx" and such concept that didn't quite work.

I agree the DN-01 is different. But if you review it's spec's you can see that it is geared toward newer riders, commuters etc. Small engine is good on gas, automatic transmission is good for in city and heavy traffic. Good egro's and windscreen. And I think it looks cool and well done. Not my cup of tea but, it may have a place. At least they are doing more than just tweaking for higher unusable HP's and for twistee's that don't exist in most places. Of course I think Aprillia did a better job for a simliar type of bike. Check out the Aprilia Mana 850 GT. 850CC automatic 6speed transmission, under seat fuel, leaving a large storage where the traditional tank is, big enough for full face. It even has built in 12 volt accessory plug in. |
