Default 1984 Honda Magna 700C

I have a Honda magna that I managed to cook the valve train on (drove it a bit too hard). Upon taking it to the garage (a couple of years ago, so it's kinda fuzzy) the owner/head mechanic, told me the cost (near to 5) and said it wasn't worth it.

Having another bike to ride at the time (currently driving) I am at the crossroads, is it worth digging around for another motor for around 5 bills?

I know as soon as the motor is in, the carbs will need a rebuilt. On the positive side, the bike is in good condition and sits as 31 k.

Is it worth justifying what will in the long run be near about 8 - 900 to get this machine going is the essential question.
