While I was cleaning and lubing the drive chain on my old Shovelhead the other day I noticed that somewhere along the line the chain had spit out the clip on the master link which means I had been riding for God knows how long with only grit and some rust holding my chain together. Soooo... I went out to the H-D dealership here in NYC thinking I could just pick up a 530 master link along with some quarts of oil and a filter. The old parts guys were all gone and this kid behind the parts counter looked at me like I had two heads when I told him what I needed. Well, excuse me! Turns out I didn't know Harleys don't use chains anymore. He probably didn't know they ever did. I was dumbfounded to learn that in that entire H-D Motorcycle Boutique (I can't call it a shop anymore and keep a straight face) they would not stock even a single 530 master link. How worthless is that? Pitzz |
