You know they even have this attitude within their own...I had a HD sporty 1200 a few years back and another guy told me that it wasn't a proper Harley...I only kept it for two years and was pretty disapointed by the overall performance and finish. I do believe the wheel chrome was so thin I managed to polish it off in places. I also believe Metric bikes, by and large, are superior in everyway to HD and cheaper to boot!

when I ride my wife's Suzy I get no or fewer waves from HD riders around here but when I ride my Nomad almost all of them acknowledge me.

It's really strange here and when we travel in the States, mostly in WA, everybody waves each other.

We came from a 6000 kms trip thru WA, ID, MT, Wy and OR a week ago, almost all HD riders waved at us

hmmmm.... as long as we are reviving an old thread.... since I put these driving lights on my kawi, I get more waves. I think my bike looks like Harley from the front now and this has caused more HD riders to wave...

I guess that is because the HD riders one comes across on the Interstates and highways away from city limits are not the posers and they don't care what you ride.

But again I don't want to overgeneralize this....

It's not the HD riders that don't wave, it's the "posers" that are riding HD's and other brands that don't wave, it's just that a lot of people seem to notice the non wavers a lot more if they are on a HD.

I think you are right there. I ride to Lake Lure a lot and where I stay, is filled with bikers and 90% of them are Harleys. I talk with everyone, we look at each others bikes and no one really cares that I ride an import sport bike. They treat my no different than anyone else.

Funny out here in SOCAL. People ride everything. I get waves from Vespa's, duc's, metric's, HD's and Vic riders. Hell they pratically do a back flip waving. The guys that don't wave are the bad ass's that have the skull mask and trying to control ape hangers or the posers where the shorts on their fat boy.

yeah sure it does.

around here (in Harley's back yard no less) I have found that Harley owners are generally tolerant if not out and out really decent people.

unless you drive a crotch rocket, then, that's a another chasm to cross.
