Default Changing the pipes

Is it true that as of right now the pipes can't be changed to anything a little louder?

I'm not sure what changes they might have made in Mass, but LOUD pipes have always been illegal where I live. The thing is, if you just go a little louder, you can get by without attracting the cops. The problem is, some riders want to go overboard, and get really loud, and that is going to rune it for the rest of us.

I did hear there were some stricter regs going into effect starting 1/1/07. Check with your local LEO's, or Google it

Main thing with the 07 was the EPA restraints they put on HD so the pipes are differnt then prior years. If you put 06 pipes on a 07' you'll need to remap and run the new air filter set up. You can buy 07 pipes which I did Screaming Eagles they add performance without the AC or Down load, but not alot louder then stock pipes adds a differnt exhaust note that sound great.

I can't say I'm that big a fan of louder pipes, seeing as how they're not allowed in my area, but there are a number of options out there.

Technically, it has been illegal to remove or modify the stock pipes on a motorcycle sinse the EPA and the Clean Air Act came into effect in 1979. Don't worry about it.
