Default 2007 Electra Glide Classic

Looking for information from anyone who owns the new 2007 electra glide classic/ ultra classic. The good, the bad, the ugly! I have just purchased one. The build is for Feb 2007.

I hear that there is a pinging problem with all 2007 HD's? If you have a problem with pinging, who did you correct this issue?

I have an older Electra Glide, and love it. 50,000 trouble-free miles so far. A couple friends jumped on the Ultra Classics when the 2007s first came out, and the 96-inch motor is SWEEEEET with that 6-speed tranny. After riding their's I am seriously considering getting a 2007 Electra Glide Classic myself.

I bought the 07 Electa Glide Standard big differnce it does'nt come with all the bells and whistles but same everything else. Just had the 1,000 mile service done I was a little over 1,600 today I'm at 1,800. I love this bike smooth, easy handling, I went with the SYN 3 oil which runs in the tranny as well, bike will run a bit cooler with this, the exaust sounds better with the more miles you put on it. This is a great bike and I love 6 speeds 80 MPH runs just under 3,000 RPM's.

Cruiser Magazine did a very comprehensive review of this bike in the latest edition. They were very favorable of all aspects of this bike. I would speculate getting one in the near future. Would be nice to have a big cruiser for the long hauls and keep M50 for around town. Check the article out though. No mention of any pinging whatsoever. It does take premium gas so if someone inadvertenly ran regular it may affect performance and pinging could be an issue.

Fishpart, I've visited the York chiller plant in your town several times over the past few years, but have never had a chance to tour the HD plant. Have you ever had a chance to tour it? Would it be worth seeing if I'm ever back up there?

TaterDog,

I've done the tour, the soft tail plant is only open for tour durning bike week and maybe a few other times a year. I found the tour interesting, I would have loved to visited my bike while being put together. But I think it's worth taking the tour once, can't see anymore then that.

Well, I'll check next time I'm in the area, but sounds like it might not be open to me. We have a fairly new plant here in KC. Think they make Vrods, Sportsters, and not sure what else. I'm told they have a really good tour, but never have taken it -- plan to soon.

I though they made the touring bikes at the York plant, no?

I think you can schedule a tour, I know it is only Free at certain times of the year. I was just up there about a month ago, and the line to get in was INSANE! I passed, and just checked out all the great bikes in the lot, and the vnedors!

And the great food!

Most of my family has done the tour, and they all loved it! I also hear from many others that it is well worth it. I think there is a link on the HD homepage somewhere for details. Lancaster HD's site or the Battlefield HD (Gettysberg) might also have some details!

One more question -- what oil do you use and how often do you change it?

I buy 20W-50 motorcycle-specific conventional oil, and change it every 3000 miles, though if I am on a road trip I will sometimes go up to an extra 500 miles and do it when I get home. I buy it in a 5-gallon bucket (use it in both Harleys & the custom year round, and in the Intruder 800 in the summer), and have no loyalty to any specific brand.

No pinging with my 07. Just one sweet ride. took delivery on 12-05-06. Love the 96" and the 6 speed trans. I do have a small problem with mine pulling to the left. Harley said that as long as the pulling is under 3 lbs. its within specs. My mechanic at Edmond, Ok. said that he would have to move the engine and he'd be able to get it almost to 0 lbs. Good luck on your new ride. Joe Ward
