I may have some of you wondering about what I was talking about in the motorcycle pulling and the lbs. of pull. Harley uses a scale that is hooked to the mirror post and then as the motorcycle is going down the higway they measure the amount of lbs. it takes to keep the bike running in a straight line. Hope this clears up what I was talking about. Joe Ward

I can't recall ever riding a bike with undamaged frame that pulled noticeably to one side. Is this a common H-D thing? Why would "moving the motor" help correct such a condition?

How about making sure both wheels and the steering head are in the same vertical plane, and verifying the rear tire is in proper alignment?

If all else was well, it should take a significant weight imbalance from side to side to affect directional stability.

Hey Rick- I just picked up a mint condition Springfield "Linkless" 10mm. Can't wait to get to a range... Works just like the Omega, but has internal extractor.

How's that new Harley treatin' ya?

Cool, Ive never owned a 10mm.

I don't ride in the winter anymore, you can never get all the salt off. I installed cruse control on the Road King, the dealer wanted $300 for labor. Took me less than 2 hours.

Check your PM

I've ordered a Cobra fatty guard bar for my V2K, installed passenger floor boards, and ordered a license plate lay down kit for it.

Not quite five thousand miles on it, but have been riding the 900 a lot. The 2000 will always be sorta low miles, since I got it new in '06, and it was a leftover '04.

The sun came out yesterday for the first time in weeks, and I took the 900 out to the store on an errand. Have to be carefull of all the cinder and gravel dust on the roads, from our recent ice events...

PM back at 'ya. Dude, you're lucky! Go buy a lotto ticket.

Default 2007 Electra Glide Classic

I just bought a 2007 Electra Glide Classic and it should be here in March. The information on using the better oil and better gas is great to know. This will be my first Harley, so I am hoping for a great ride and all the information I can get on it.

If you change your oil every 3000 miles, and you should, any quality oil of the right viscosity should work just fine. As for the gas, it states in your owners manual to use 91 octane or higher, and no methanol blends
Ethanol blends, up to 10%, and oxygenated gas is fine. I try to stay away from oxygenated gas if the bike is going to sit for an extended period of time. My personal experience with oxygenated gas is that it goes bad faster than non-oxygenated gas.

I have had one since labor day ,it now has 4000mls on it .I have had pinging problems and broken motor mount .the pinging is still there .I live in ny. Imagine when it gets hot out!!!! I have the bike at harley now and they tell me it doesnt make any noise.I may not be a harley tech ,but I do have 25 yrs in the auto and marine fields and I have never seen an engine ping doing 85 mph downhill.Make sure you have the fuel pak ,race tuner or whatever fuel management system you desire installed along with the stage 1 or 2 intake and exauhst ,or else your bike will be sitting next to mine a a harley dealer in need of new pistons and wristpins like I believe mine now needs. these bikes will not last in the stock configuration!!!!!!!!! Sorry man you wanted the lowdown ............. Al (the really pissed biker in NY)

Sorry to hear about your problems man, I hope they get it sorted out for you. They are bound to get a bad one now, and than, too bad for you, this time it was yours.

This Road King I have now,(5,000 miles) is my 4th Harley, and all 4 of them have been as trouble free as a man could hope for.

I put a Power Commander on my RK, but it ran fine stock, I only added the PC, because I went to aftermarket air filter, and exhaust.

Default Yes.... There is a pinging problem

2007 Ultra. Live in Los Angeles. Been to three dealerships, only the guys at Bartels in Marina Del Rey let on that there was a problem. Heat related supposedly. I'm pissed, but somewhat glad that it's not just my bike. Was told that the dyno race tuner kit ($800) would do the trick. We'll see. Not very happy with the product because of this. This is our third Harley and have had no problems with any of the others. Been told that the factory won't admit to any problems until they have a solution. They are gonna lose a customer here in the future. If I have to spend $800 to make a $25,000 bike run right, they should own up and handle it. Hope this helps anyone considering this bike.

The twin cam motors run a bit hotter than the Evo's did, and the 96 incher (2007 models) runs even hotter than the 88's did. I haven't had any problems with any pinging as long as I run premium gas, but I was a bit concerned with my oil temp when it started getting up around 230*. The mechanic told me that the normal operating oil temp for the 07 motors is between 235*, and 260*. That's pretty darn hot, but it shouldn't take installing a race tuner to fix it, they should be able to flash a new map into it that's a little richer. Ask them to re-flash a stock map in it, and if that doesn't work, have them install a stage 1 map.

I've only had my '07 Road King for a month, but no problems yet.
It's been about 85F-89F during the afternoons here in TX and my bike is used for commuting (some stop-n-go traffic). No problems as yet.

I have added the Screaming Eagle slip-ons and a Stage 1 kit (including the map) so I don't know if that is going to make a difference for the better in the long run.

Good Luck. Keep us informed.

I ride an 08 Ultra Classic with a Lehman Trike kit. I have added SE exhaust, big sucker air cleaner, and the HD stage one map. The trike runs much cooler now than it did stock and being a trike, it is bound to run much hotter. At the 1000 mile service, I put Syn3 in everything. I have had the trike a month now and have 4300 miles on it. I rode over the Beartooth Mountain Pass today and made 40 mpg. I'm a happy camper. The Stage One download is a cheap way to make your bike run cooler as they tend to run lean from the factory. Good luck with yours.
