+1 on that. I was hoping for a more natural riding position when I read about it. Seeing it live is a whole different story. I found it to be a strange position. I guess you hit it right on the head, it's the low height, combined with peg position.

Hey drgibson, I love the 750's! Everyone is right the sporty is a joke to the RUB's. I've got a '73 that rips and a friend with a 900 in a Lawill frame that is raced in a vintage flattrack series. The look isn't new but the H-D marketing (propoganda) gurus will have everyone thinkin' it is.

i like it. alot like the yamaha xjr1300 (euro only) or the kawasaki zrx1200...

i think it needs a little bikini fairing around the headlight ala Nighthawk S, ZRX etc...

heres the xjr:

heres the zrx:

well its not very easy. the bike has to comply with all U.S. emissions and NHTSA mandates. there is an importation fee payable to the customs and border protection thugs plus the shipping...

someone was looking into importing an xjr and it was pretty costly not including the shipping...

Short answer: you usually can't anymore.

In order to be imported into the US for use a street-legal vehicle, the motorcycle must have been originally manufactured to comply with all Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, be certified as complying, and the original manufacturer must have perminantly affixed the certification label to the frame before it left the factory. Manufacturers simply do not spend the money to certify the models not sold in the US, nor do they affix the certification label for bikes not intended for the US market. No label, no importing for street use. Period.

If the bike does happen to have the certification label, you still have to meet all EPA standards, spend a bundle on paperwork, pay the import fee, pay the inspection and licensing fees, pay the taxes, and jump through a lot of hoops to ever get a license plate for it.

Could you ship it to Canada and drive it over?

How exactly would that help you? For starters, you'd have to meet all the legal requiements to import the vehicle to Canada. And if it isn't legal to import it to the US because it does not have certification, it doesn't matter HOW you get it here- it is, and never will be, legal, so you can never title it, register it, or use it on the streets. If it DOES have certification, then it still doesn't matter how you get it here, as the hoops to jump through are the same, so you still gain no benifit from importing it to Canada first.
