Y'see . . . THERE you go again! Whatta'ya'got there . . . Ouija Board? Magic 8-Ball? One of them fortune telling mannequins that takes quarters? Whatever it is, ask it if pennicilin will clear this up, 'cause I'm itching like a dog at flea circus.

Ignition advancers were originally designed to use in CA bikes to help defeat the additional pollution control crap. Using one in this hot as hell wasteland known as SoTX will just make the bike run a lot hotter. Will the performance gains really matter? I would say not really. Jet it and forget it. Leaving the stock airbox ON will let you keep all that midrange once jetted and setup w/aftermarket pipe. Single filters look cool, but really help the top-end and can screw with your midrange. I would also switch out that shock for something better (Ohlins) and get some gold valves on the front and respring that as well.

Why not go get back on your ninja 250 and leave me alone.
I raced one of those. You can't just twist the throttle to go faster. Corner speed and no brakes allowed me to embarass a lot of "Trackday trash talkers" on their GSX-R 1000s. And I wasn't even close to the fastest 250 rider out there. Hmmmmmmmmm . . .

Ya, but Nut, a 4-1 and pods, sound real cool.

Thanks for the voice of sanity. I'm the admitted wussie here, and all this rampant testosterone makes me want to go hide under my bed.

It's a 17-year old bike. Take it from someone who has been there. They can be fun, but really are a waste of money to hop up a whole bunch.

Wasn't there a song a few years ago, "My future is so bright, I gotta wear shades!"?

Ahh man, you had to say that? You don't live that far from me. Have you had your bike up to NHIS yet. There are a whole bunch of guys on bikes there, under 500cc, that would like to talk to you. I promise you, after they are done with you, YOU won't want to talk to them.

I'd put my money any day of the week on one of these guys vs. an asshat that thinks he knows what he's doing on a bigger bike.

Yep, timeing was factory set on the CA bikes at 7 deg before TDC, 13 deg before on the rest of the country.
