And that is what I was talking about. He does have two extensions on it, but the GPS is in an Aqua Box. Considering the bike its on, I doubt the vibration is so bad.

You have a good eye, all I can tell about the bike is that it's a sport bike of some kind, and every sport bike I've ever ridden proved to have fairly stiff suspension and it seemes to me that would make for a lot of vibration, especally with a GPS as heavy as the Zumo that's in the picture mounted on about 8 inches of extensions.

I can't find an Aqua box listed anywhere for the Zumo, and from the picture it looks to me like it's just a standard zumo cradle with a zumo mounted in it, besides with the zumo being waterproof, I can't think that there would be much of a market for an Aqua box for it.

Can you post a link for an Aqua box for a zumo.

Rick, my eyesight might not be as good as you claim. You are right that is a Zumo. It very closely resembles the size and mass of an aqua box. The nuvi fits in the medium box which can be purchased for about $34. The Zumo is the standard for MC GPS, but has a pretty hefty price premium compared to putting a Nuvi into a medium Aqua Box.

That's cool Cirquerider, no harm no foul, I was mostly hoping to learn something,,,,, I couldn't find an Aqua box for the zumo, and I thought you had some info I wasn't able to find.

Default Need the screen?

Let me preface this question/comment with the fact that I do not own a GPS and have only used my sister's once in the car.

If you have one that gives audible directions with exit # and street names, couldn't you just tuck it in your pocket and wire it into your ear...going by audio only? No fooling mounts, vibration, etc.

Of course I have no idea how long the batts last. Just wondering.

Yes, in fact I have found that other than the spedo, I use the screen very little for the actual navigating, and in some instances where your turns are coming real close together, the screen is almost useless.

There are other uses for the screen, but you could stop for them, the real inconvenience would come into play when you wanted to make a mid trip change of some sort, and trust me when I say that happens a lot more than you might think.

I'd say that if your trying to just get by with a unit you already have that might be a good way of saving some money till you could get one that has a handlebar mount, but if you are buying something anyway, why not just get one that works on the bike already. All motorcycle units work just fine in a car/truck, but not all car/truck units will work for a motorcycle.

Advertised run time for batteries on most units run from 4 to 8 hours & would be fine for most around town trips, but could become an issue if you were traveling.

If yo are trying to save some money and still have a unit that is made for motorcycles you might look into either a Quest, more $ than Nuvi, but less than a Zumo, or a Streetpilot.

A friend of mine uses a 2610 Streetpilot that seems to have all the same features as my Zumo, the only real difference I've found is that the Zumo has a better antenna, and a shorter learning curve, some of his features are buried a page or two in, where with the Zumo I can go right to them, he is very familiar with his streetpilot, and can access the pages just as fast as I can with my Zumo, but it took him quite a bit more practice.

He bought his Streetpilot from an online dealer that deals in refurbished units & is very happy with the unit & the money he saved over getting a Zumo.

I bought a cheap $150 nuvi205 and plan on using it for my bike. I think it will be fine. I got the aquabox but think its too big. I'll mount it and get some pics this weekend
