| I use iNav software on my pocket PC with a bluetooth GPS unit. I use electrical tape to fasten my phone to the bike. I only use it to calibrate my speedometer. It's hard to see and the electrical tape leaves gunk that I have to pick off. This is probably not the solution you're looking for.

| Just Won't Go Away ! ![]() | I use a garmin C330 when I cage, but just directions or a small street map when I ride. Since I have no since of direction, it makes for some interesting rides through places I had not planned on.

| I have a Ipaq Pocket PC, with a bluetooth GPS unit that attaches to the speedo with some velcro. The Ipaq sits in my pocket. I tend not to turn them on, but use them when stopped, or if I am hopelessly lost!. Have to get a cig lighter socket fitted so I can charge them on the fly - not happy with battery life. But I can always find my way back to a significant road that gets me home. GPS unit on Ebay - $100 Aust Tom Tom software - pirated - 50c cd! Value - Priceless!. |

| I have a Garmin Quest. I like it a lot as it helps to keep me from being lost. Or, more ideally, it helps me find my way home after getting a good ride in (a.k.a., getting lost).

| I allways take a GPS with me, whether or not I use it. I have bought a mount for my Garmin ETREX LEGEND and put it on the handlebars now. Use it only when I need too, cuz it eats batteries.

| ... and we have Tom Tom GPS. It was $400 on sale at Best Buy. we use it anytime we are not exactly sure where we are going and it works very well. It has a stock of 'points of interest' which we use now a lot when we travel...it finds railroad museums, old aircraft museums, the nearest Starbucks even ! We mount it with velcro to the dash and we use it on (internal battery seems to last a good long time) when we ride. We make a GPS location out of wherever we leave our bike trailer and then just ride. If we are unsure of a road ahead, TOM Tom shows us which is curvier...lol. When we feel like heading home, Tom Tom shows us our way back to the trailer... like breadcrumbs ! We will never be without one again.

| I have a PDA with Tom Tom software. I also have my MP3 music on the PDA. it talks bluetooth with the receiver, the size of a matchbox, which is mounted with velcro on the bars. I listen to the PDA, and turn on the GPS if required. Don't need to look at it, it talks to me through the earpieces. Did a 3600km trip recently, and it even told me when to look for fuel (waypoints pre programmed in). I have found it more useful for trip planning, as we have 500-600 km areas without fuel between them, so a bit of planning is very handy. Short trips - use it very often. Long trips - no need to have it turned on all the time. If you are prudent, battery will last 2-3 days. |

| Had a Garmin V on my Honda VTX. The unit lasted 5 years and is now being repaired. Great because of 25 hour battery life. Ram mount on handlebars really nice. Bought a Tom Tom GO 300 for about $200 on ebay refurb. Mounted it..looked great. Then found a GPS Tech who said that that model was a little fragile for a bike (anyone else have a 300?) So I put it in car. It had a lithium battery...4 hour life...I liked that. Last week I got a Garmin 2610 and mounted it with Ram mounts. Looks fantastic. Wired it directly to battery using Garmin kit. Works better than Tom Tom. Glare doesn't affect it. Looks good on my Yamaha FZ1 2007 |
