I love it! I think it's one of the best things out on the market for GPS and I really love the bluetooth system that comes with it.

i dunno, i think the last thing a person needs to do is have any more distractions while on the motorcycle just my opinion though. it is a nice product, but like i said can be a distraction too

You don't necessarily have to be riding the bike to use the GPS though, and hopefully most people with half a brain would pull over, let it make the route, then just follow the arrow.

I use the Tom Tom software on a pocket PC (IPAQ).
The receiver unit is small, about the size of a matchbox.

I tend to leave them both turned off, and when I am stopped (gloves off!)
They could be in a tankbag (clear top) but the battery life of both units sucks, so tend to just whipo em out when lost or stopped.

Not sure if the TOM TOM software is the best, or not, but it works well, and was a cheap solution. Can't carry too many maps!.

Have spoken to some other riders, and they are happy with the units - but are wary of leaving them on the bike. Very easy to steal, or forget.

Don't hear any bad reports on the unitys here in Oz.

I have the TOMTOMRider and The TOMTOM 910 The Rider is Great Reason
it is water proof so you have no worries when it rains It also has the blue
tooth addtion (which is included)that fits in the helmet for Car use down falls you need to buy a car sucction cup for it and you need to use the ear bud being it does not have a speaker. GPS Is a great tool I dont use it going out riding rahter to get home. being I live in NYC I tend to head to the country side. Also it is great for finding gas stations and a place to get a bite to eat.
I beleave they have newer maps for sale one thing I really like about tomtom is everything is in software vs others companies that you have buy extra software rahter then having everything in it when you buy the unit. I have Had my Rider for over a year now and have no issues with it but do keep in mind no matter what unit you get you want to update the maps every few years being roads do change as in the city I have run into a few roads that turned into one ways (not in my direction)
I have the 910 for work and am very happy with it too

I couldn’t disagree more.

During the week I plan out my trips and download them into the gps-r. When the trip comes up I put the unit into the cradle attach the power cord, select the route that was stored and I am off. It follows every road programmed no guess work. The screen displays exactly when the next turn is and if you’re familiar with the unit it should be as fast as checking the speedometer.

My unit is an oldie but still works well. The touch 3D color screens of these days are awesome and surely are less cumbersome to operate while riding.

To Add you dont have to look at the unit being it has the blue tooth turn by turn directions. And Rockhead brought up a great feature of preloaded routes as stated for the most part I like to get lost in the back roads and have the GPS get me home and a bite to get on the way.

i have a tomtom in my truck and i like it a lot. it's probably the easiest to use. i just can't justify spending that much for a second unit that has the same maps and software in it.

Maybe, you might want to examine these TomTom's (SmartRatings - Reviews & Ratings for Tomtom) that are available. They may not be the ones mentioned in the thread but I guess they are more or less of the same application. What's more, there are reviews, expert and user, one can delve into in order to know the good and bad qualities of certain products. Just a thought.

Default Tom Tom Go 300

Bought one about a month ago....refurbished for $200 off of Ebay. Sealed in box. Got the adapter for my FZ1 Ram mount and it looks great. Put in on and tried it out......washed out in direct sunlight. Very difficult to see.
I talked to a GPS tech and he said that this particular Tom Tom would not be great on a bike because of its fragile digitizer (the thing that operates the touchscreen, I think) He said he said he had several he was repairing for that problem, so I should use this one in my car instead of the bike.
So....I just got a Garmin 2610 in......$239 refurb with guarantee. Loaded it with a 2 GB card. Magnificent!!
I like the fact that the Tom Tom has a battery....no hookup.

But the Garmin 2610 seems to have it beat.
