Default What is the proper way to clean your bike?

I was wondering if there is a proper way to clean your bike?

1. Should I wash the bike with the hose?
2. What kind of wax should I use? (I use mothers 3 step wax on my 2008 Ford Fusion, would it be all right to use that?
3. What will I clean my spoke wheels with?
4. If I spray a cleaner on my spoke wheels, is it all right to get it on the brake rotors?
5. What should I clean & polish the aluminum parts on my bike with?
6. What should I clean my windshield with?
7. Is there some kind of conditioner that you should put on your leather seat to keep it from drying out?
8. What about cleaning the exhaust pipes, is there a special cleaner/polish for then? (they do get really hot)

This is my first bike, so I want to keep it looking nice.

All tips and suggestions are welcome.

Tks. Dannie

1) why not? just not directly over the electrical components.
2) anything safe for a car should be safe on a bike...
3) people saw the powerballs are the thing to use. if no powerball, elbowgrease.
4) i wouldn't put anything but water on the rotors... these are your brakes don't put anything except brake cleaner on them
5) aluminum? car soap.
6) car soap
7) i don't know, i'll abstain from giving you a correct response. my first guess would be a very LIGHT coat of leather oil...
soap and water?

honestly, just treat it like a convertible... don't get water where electrical is, don't put anything on the brakes and warm water and soap should clean everything up.

then again, i never really cleaned my bike properly to date, so taking advice from me might not be the best idea

Then dry with a leaf blower. Sounds stupid, but works awesome!

I take mine to a carwash about 5 miles away. Let it cool down for about 10 minutes , then wash and rinse it. Then I whip it down with a cloth so it won't spot. Of course I don't let it get very dirty before I wash it.
