Default LABOR DAY WEEKEND!!!! Ride, Sun, Fun, Tubing, and Camping in Florida!!!

Ok here is the plan for Labor Day weekend!!!! Myself, Road mama, my friend from Macon, maybe Pinhy, and anyone else (Tim, Kehau, SQ) that might want to meet us come on!!!!

I am thinking that on Labor Day weekend we could all meet at Ginnie Springs which is about seventy miles from Georgia off of I-75. The place has tubing in the crystal clear waters of the Florida Springs, we could camp there, then ride during the day over to places such as Gainesville, Weeki Wakki Springs(check out some mermaids), go over to Tarpon Springs, check out the Don Garlits Drag racing museum, or just cruise around enjoying the fun and the sun!!!

I might leave to go down there a little early and secure campsites if I know we will have a good turnout,, so far I have about five people confirmed. This would be a good way to enjoy some Florida weather and meet more people off of this forum!!! Post your ideas and if you are interested PM or email me.

Looking forward to meeting more of you!!!!! Sean

i am SOOOO up for this! camping or hotel is cool with me.

Sean has mentioned a lot of the places we could hit as stopping places on a ride. i know there is some great back highways up there (i went to the University of Florida which is just about half hour south. went SCUBA diving at Ginnie too.) we cna ride for hours and go all around north-central florida. there are actually some hills up there too, dont have them down here in tampa area

this should be cool. i hope we get a good turnout

Camping is open to a first come first served basis. The only sites left are wilderness sites but they have shower houses. I will probably go the camping route and since I may be leaving to come down there early like either late Thursday night or early Friday morning,, I will probably trailer my bike that way I can bring a tent that might be big enough to hold several people. But if anyone has a tent and wants to bring one that will be cool. Use your search engine and look Ginnie Springs up. I am stoked about this and I think it will be a great way to end the summer and a great precursor to Biketoberfest!!!!

Looks like we will have a decent turnout and lets show the rest of the country how the southern riders like to party!!!!

Well,, if I could gaurantee that my "LC" would stop it's voluntary shake apart then I might ride it all the way or something. I am at wits end with this wobble thing,, it keeps getting worse and the stupid dealer can't figure it out. Secondly,, have you ever camped with a bunch of people for extended periods of time,, a shower might not be a bad thing!!!! Gotta have it for the ladies also!!!!

Swim, and throw your t shirts in the garbage, but new ones at Walmart or Tourist shop.

I think Pinhy should be in charge of the rides we will be doing Carlos & I would love to ride in the hills. We will be arriving Sat. so as it gets closer we will have to decide where we will all meet.

stp1971 I will call you later today.

Sounds good to me!!! PINHY for president!!!!! Yea I'd prefer that someone lead who knows the area. Doug you can give us the tour of the University of Florida also!!!! I'd like to go ride your hills and twisties!!!!! I think a trip to the coast would be good also,, wouldn't mind going to the beach or cruising the old roads that have all those tree canopies and the moss hanging from the trees!!!!

My friend will be coming down Saturday morning from Macon. So I will get there probably early Friday morning. Bring a small tent with you guys. I am going to bring a two or three person tent as is my friend. His big tent is not in good order he thinks,, plus it will be easier for everyone to find a spot to toss a small tent.

Email me for more info!!!!

i can start doing some research on roads for riding. it has been 12 years since i graduated, and not like i frequented that area, i just know there is actually some elevation change up there.

the west coast is about 50 miles from ginnie, i dont know anything about the coastline up there. the covered roads you mentioned are over near daytona in ormond beach i think. ther eis a famous little trip a lot of bokers go on while there. it isnt anything all that special, but i would save that for biketoberfest time.

I'll see what i can come up with for different length rides with stops along the way that you mentioned above.

Hey Doug that sounds cool. I am going to look into the bigger tent and see if it is ok. If it is I will bring it anyways just in case we might need it. I will also bring me a smaller tent as I said. Just make sure you all bring a sleeping bag or something. Let me know if any of you do not have a tent or are planning on crashing in one of our tents so that we can plan accordingly.

Yea we shall leave that route for Daytona then. How far is Tarpon Springs from there?? That is a cool place to check out and they have all that great Grek food there as well. I think everyone might like the Don Garlits museum also if you are into racing or speed stuff.

As I said,, if anyone has friends that ride and are cool with this they can come too and we will have a blast. I am stoked about this!!!!! Let me know what you find out for routes Doug. SpeedQueen I sent you a PM and we are looking forward to you both coming and hanging out with us.

Let's get this party started!!!!

Tarpon is right back here in tampa area, about 130 miles from ginnie, dont see that happening, plus pretty boring for me and tim that can get there anytime! (Papa's is a great seafood/greek rest. right on the water there)

i'll need sleeping accomodations....so if anyone has a single woman for me to share with, it would be appreciated

I'll work a ride that gets to the drag museum (racing ppl get your mind outta the gutter!). its about an hour or so south right on 75. we could also hit Cafe Risque rowr....its billed as a "couples" place and serve lunch etc...haha

ok, ive got a nice loop set up that runs right by the Museum...only problem is, it is 350 miles and about 8 hours of saddle time...might need to be trimmed up or broken into 2 days.

we want to spend part of one day (or all) tubing and relaxing (probably sunday after riding all day saturday??) right?

here is a link to Ginnie Springs park

Any input is accepted or else you are all subject to my idea of a nice ride.

Hey man,, riding is no problem for me, I got the Lounge Chair,, it's you M50 boys that we have to worry about. I am thinking maybe we chill out on Saturday and go for a short jaunt since most will be riding in from Panama City and Atlanta. Sunday might be a good day to ride or we break it up into the two days. It looks good to me so far,, my only concern is the 250 miles that the others will be already riding Saturday getting there. They might want that spring water to sit their tails in to cool them off.

As far as sleeping accomodations,, I don't think I will be able to provide you with a woman,,,you ought to know better than that by now,, but we can make you some room in a tent. Just bring you a sleeping bag to sleep in.

It is looking like it will be a good turnout. Nexus or anyone else is welcome to come. Keep me posted Doug!!!!

I am with stp1971 I think we should plan on the ride for Sun. We will be riding in on Sat. so I know I will want to relax a bit. 250 may be a little long but I am up for anything. Looks like a fun route you have picked Pinhy.

My husband & I will be staying in a hotel. I will let others know what I find out about hotels late today. That darn "W" word "work" is getting in my way Pinhy sorry I don't have a women for you either but if I find one I will toss her your way.

Are there any other girls coming for this fun wk. end? I hate to be the only girl

I am really looking forward to meeting you all.
