Default Gatlinburg 07 Fund-raiser idea

As many are now aware of, Joe/EXT1JDH suffered a brain aneurysm two weeks ago and has a protracted and expensive recovery ahead of him. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that he has insurance to assist with this, not to mention the other bills that will continue to mount.

The mods and admins here have been very gracious to set up an account here where we can make donations for Joe. I would like to coordinate a fund-raising event to also assist with this.

About 35 of us will be converging on the quiet hamlet of Gatlinburg in a couple of weeks to enjoy the beautiful scenery and each others company. I was thinking that we all have restaurants and bike shops that we frequent well. Maybe we could ask for a donation of something like gift cards/certificates, cool shirts, gloves, hats, skull caps, miscellaneous bike supplies etc. Most places wouldn’t mind giving away something small for a good cause, plus it gives them a little advertising. Just have to be sure that the gift cards/certificates are for places that anyone can use regardless of where they live.

Bring these items with you to Gatlinburg and on Friday or Saturday night we could auction these items off. All proceeds can then be sent to Joe and his family as well.

What's everyone think? Let's spread the word and lets see what we can accomplish while we are enjoying our vacation together.

Yet another reason I'm proud to be a member here.

I wish I could be in Gatlinburg too.

Hey Sean, can you spread the word to the Misfits that are going but don't belong to the forum, please?

I can't believe you folks. I'm just a smartmouth, I don't deserve any of this kindness, really!

Trust me it's a good thing that none of us get what we truly deserve.

Default Fundraiser update

After a couple of great riding days, we wrapped up the trip with a great dinner and drinks at Corky's restaurant in Gatlinburg. We had a great turnout, and they gave us the entire balcony that overlooked the main drag. Hours of debauchery followed, which will be detailed in the other threads, I'm sure.

Everyone really stepped up for the fund raiser, and I am very happy to report that we raised $405.00 for Joe.

We had alot of donations from the Misfits as well, most of all from Gumby. He bought a Tail of the Dragon shirt donated by Sean that we all signed, then he turned around and gave it back to me to send to Joe. Really classy move.

Thanks to all who participated and made donations, it really says alot. It shows we all look out for each other.
