Ok, I lost where this thread is (I am blonde!!!). I love that idea of the weekend of the 7th!! My son is going to camp up in that area there for 4 weeks, starting on the 6th (*Deep breath*... I can do this!!! His first time at camp!). Hubby and I were already planning on staying up there in that area that weekend, just becasue, well, we can (and a great way to take my mind off of him going!!). I'm not sure where we will stay there. We are looking at buying rental property up there, so we might have that then. But I would defiently love to put names to faces!!! So, count me and hubby in!!!

Sean - put us down for a king bed on the water.

This trip might turn into a pre-bachelor party...

I left a message for Susan to call me yesterday. I asked her to call me either Friday or Monday to go ahead and set up the contract for 25 rooms. All of the seven rooms adjacent to the parking garage and the rooms poolside should be ours this time.

As soon as I get the contract I will let everyone know when we can start with making our reservations.

As of right now, my plan is to take the month of June off again this year. I want to visit some of the Civil War battle sites, and the VietNam memorial wall in DC, I'll be in the area anyways, might as well meet up with you guys again. You guys were all kind of boring but I figure what the hay, I'll give you another chance anyway.

Hey everyone, gonna channel STP1971 here since he is incommunicado.

“Moving into the house, getting everything situated, cleaning up the former house. Still waiting on getting an internet connection at home, can’t log on at work.

Things are good, everyone is healthy except me. Hurt my knee but hopefully it isn’t too bad.

Room reservations can be made now at the River Terrace Resort in Gatlinburg. Call (800) 521-3523 ext 7709, ask for Susan. We have 25 rooms held for June 7, 8, 9th, out on the 10th. Prices range from $79-89, depending on view and Jacuzzi. They will need a credit card to hold your reservation, but you won't be charged until you arrive in June.

Looking forward to another great turnout and alot of fun rides. Planning and arranging trips/dinner/etc has already commenced.”

More to follow. Let's fill up that place!

Sounds like the jest of it. Folks we have already booked several rooms. The plan is to try to get as many of us on the same side of the pool this time around. And oh yeah,, the parking garage belongs to us this year. We have all 7 rooms allocated to us.

Planning on hopefully everyone arriving on Thursday so we can do the main ride on Friday. If not then we will do the Main ride on Saturday. But I'd like to be able to get a chance to visit with everyone more this year hence the extra day. Plus I really liked Sunny's idea of checking out the National Motorcycle Museum this time. So I'd like to do that on Saturday and if anyone wants to there are the Casino's in Cherokee while we are over there.

Otherwise we could tour the area a little more. I will do another re-con mission this year with Rainman and maybe Gumby also. Will be a different route this time for the main ride. Not as long but I think just as fun.

We will be trying to lock in some restaurants for discounts and banquet rooms so we can all have a chance to hangout some more.

So what I need this time is for anyone who has already made reservations post a response for what days you are planning on attending for sure and what type of room you ended up getting. I will work with Susan to try to keep everyone together so we can also own the pool and hot tub as well.

Also I will be sending out an email to the Misfits tomorrow and bringing it up at the nxt meeting Tuesday. It appears we will have as strong if not stronger attendance from the Misfits this year. After last years stories there were alot of people that really wished they had came along. So they are definitely wanting to attend this year.

What does that mean for everyone,,, more rooms will fill up quicker and if we have the right ones coming along this year we will be able to police the ride again so all you have to do is pay attention and enjoy the ride.

If we fill up the 25 early then I can possibly add more rooms. But the longer we wait the harder it will be. Jeff said it right by if you are wanting to attend and are not 100% yet,, go ahead and book the room. They are only getting a card number to hold the room,, not charging it until that weekend.

Plus Susan said they will allow us to cancel up to 72 hours prior. So let's fill 'em up and I am looking forward to seeing everyone again and also the new attendees as well.

Let's hear some thoughts on places you'd like to see this time. Do we want to revisit the dragon again?

I was at the Wheels through time museum back in October and while it's pretty neat, it's for the most part 90% Harley stuff. Don't get me wrong, it's an interesting place, but I was ready to leave after about an hour or so. I found the most interesting thing in the place was an old Deusenberg roadster that seemed to be undergoing an in the car engine rebuild there IN the museum. Maggie Valley was kind of interesting as I hadn't been there before, but it's a mostly motels and more of the same thing that's in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge/Cherokee.

Sounds like there are already about 5 of the 25 rooms already booked with another 3 or 4 waiting in the wings as well. Get your reservations now. See the phone number above in BlaznBlu's post.

Throw some ideas of what everyone would like to do so Rainman and I can get the routes and plans together. Fun Times ahead,,,something to look forward to at the beginning of some of this areas best riding weather!!!

One good route that excludes the Dragon would be to take 321 to Alcoa to Maryville, then take 411 to Madisonville, then take 68 on to Tellico Plains to the Cherohala Skyway to Bryson City, there’s a great Italian restaurant (Pasqualino’s) there. From there we could wander over to Cherokee then back across 441 to the Burg. I’m not 100% sure of the road numbers but I can nail them down if you guys would like for me to. Check the route out on Yahoo maps or Google earth if you like.

Why are we talking about leaving the Dragon out?

No problem Jerry, I'm not looking to blame anyone for anything. Just curious as to why we wouldn't want to ride the Dragon. I know we rode it last year, but we are hoping for more people this year, and that means we will have some that have never ridden it

I know what you're talking about Rickster and I was only kidding in my response to your post. The Dragon might seem intimidating to some people though. But we all know that it ain't nothin' but a little ole piece of pavement going up the side of a mountain don't we.
