Default Arizona riders

The weather here is perfect for riding and i just bought a bike.. . . so what are we waiting for? i'm looking for other riders in AZ who just want to get out and ride.
i often see packs of sportbikes wheelieing around and am not interested in that, and all the cruiser riders scowl at my katana.. . .
does anyone know of any groups of riders in or around the greater phoenix area who just enjoy having a good ride along with good people no matter what kind of bike you ride?

thanks, and yes we are overrun with the west coast/orange county chopper gangs right now. i've heard of that run, but thought the town of cave creek would be clogged with hogs, so i stayed out this weekend. i cant wait to be able to do the highway 89 to prescott/jerome and back - i've daydreamt of that run on a bike for years before i had a bike!
i'm free most sundays and saturdays after about 3pm if you'd like to watch a noob stumble through some runs around here, just let me know!

Thats a nice ride. Globe is a fun ride too once the Ren Faire traffic is gone on the weekends. Are you East side or west side? I usually try to get my runs in on weekend mornings before the traffic wakes up and the heat. Get a good mesh! Will keep you in mind when I know im going on a run.

I live in the West Valley but commute to North Scottsdale every day. I'm all over this city.

I have an m50 and live in the central Phoenix area. Can't go on any rides untill June. Damn liscence suspension is driving me nuts. I want to cry every time I walk outside and see my bike collecting dust. Don't know how all those east coast people do it during the winter.

Yeah, I got pulled over TWICE during bike week due to all the undercover cops they had out for the event. Thankfully, I was let off the hook both times.

I was at WestWorld for all 5 days of Cyclefest, it was quite a party. I never ran into any of the undercover cops, but I'm still waiting to see if any of the cameras on the 101 caught me.

I'd be interested but am going to be out of town for the next couple of weekends. FYI- My brother-in-law rides a Harley and I just rode up to Williams for a Harley event with him. I was one of 2-3 metric bikes on the lot at the Harley dealership out of about 300 bikes. We took the 17 to Sedona and then up through Oak Creek (the day defore it caught fire) to the 40 and then on out to Williams. On our way back we came back down the 17 from Flag and by the time we got to the Verde Valley/Cottonwood (around 1-2pm) we had to turn off and head into Pine/Strawberry area to avoid spontaneous heat combustion!! It was flippin hot! Payson was ok but if you go early I would definitely try to plan to take some time off during the hottest part of the day and ride down in the eve. You might take the 260 up to the rim during that time as that is over 7K feet and will be nicer weather-wise and it's a fun twisty road. Anyway, just some ideas and if you haven't done anything over the next couple weeks I will check back. Ride safe.

alright '01: i'm rockin the slightly smaller and lesser tuned, more reserved and mature sibling to your gixxer, and i've got new sprockets, chain, and rear rubber to break-in, so i'm ready to ride in spite of the heat as well. i do agree that the best option is to plan an all day ride leaving before, and returning after, the heat of the day - otherwise, once we hit city limits: see ya, i'm headed straight to my pool. i work a regular week plus a half day on saturday (cuz motorcycles is an expensive hobby), so sundays are my only option. i've been daydreaming of an all day ride for a month or two now and i dont really care where we go (although i'd rather it be up and out of this heat).
some day i'm going to do carefree hwy to wickenburg, then hwy 89 to prescott, jerome, sedona, and on to flag - but i dont think that'll take all day, so then what? the rim? snow bowl? who's got a map??
i dont care what kind of bike you ride, or how many are going - i'm just looking for riding partners and i'll ride with anybody. i have no problem riding alone, but it kinda sucks when you get to the top of the hill at the end of the twisty road and have to check your boots to see if you left any leather on them as they've been dragging around every other turn all the way up and look over at the old guy in the yukon with a %%%%%y wife next to him and three screaming kids in the back and laugh and say "dude, wasnt that awsome?!?!", and all too often, he doesnt know what you're talking about.. . .
i'm in tempe for another month, then mesa aug 1st, in case you want to get a beer when we get back.

I've done the ride to Jerome (from the West Valley), and including lunch, the entire trip took me about 7 hours. I'm up for a ride if everyone else wants to get something going. I don't care what you ride, as long as everyone has smart group riding ethics.
