tnichols and farmbone glad to have ya on board!!!! There are numerous campgrounds btu the lodging needs to start getting arranged as soon as possible.

Looks like the trip is brewing and starting to pick up steam. I told "J" last night that we are planning on doing it the weekend of June 3rd. I told her that the weekend before will be Memorial Day weekend so hopefully alot of the traffic will be settled down. I also told my brother about it and he said he might runa chase car for us,, got to get more details about it for him though.

I totally forgot about the Suches run up Hwy 60. Good idea Smurf. We could definately do that on the way back. I am thinking the meeting in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge might be the place to meet up. Any ideas would be welcome. We could stay there Friday night and get up early Saturday and make the trip. Then finishing up around Robinsville or making a giant round robin back to Gatlinburg or something.

Anyone have any ideas post them. I am game. This could very well be one of the largest get togethers this forum has done thus far. I will start looking for the different routes and all. I guess what we need to determine is how much iron butt everyone has and is willing to do in a day.

I got my cadillac bike complete with the gel pads and all. So I am good to go for a while. What is the longest distance everyone is willing to ride in a day?
That will help determine what routes we take on which days.

I am planning on taking Friday and Monday off to make it an extended weekend. I figure I can leave early Friday morning or leave Thursday night and ride towards the meeting spot. If it is Gatlinburg then we can all hang out and party Friday evening, get up Saturday and ride, then everyone head to the next meeting spot and party Saturday evening as well. Get up Sunday and everyone will start dispersing back towards their origins.

I am not sure what kind of mileage I could do. The farthest so far has been around 300 in a day. I have only been riding motorcycles since October. However, for the past 10 years I have put over 5k miles a year on my mountain bike, the equates to a lot saddle time. What ever the group decides I will go along with. Hopefully I will have a Corbin seat by then.

Gatlinburg area would definitely have the most to offer in terms of night life. Plenty of ride options originating from there. Gatlinburg as the "hub"???

It takes approx. 5~6 hours to get to this area from Greensboro. I am considering trailering the bike. If anyone is interested in hoping in with me let me know. The trailer will hold 4 bikes and my F150 seats 5. Anyone coming from the northeast could ride this far and then jump in. Then again I may just suck it up and ride.

Sure,, if they can keep up,, they can ride. If not we can give them a route course and let them head out a day in advance.

Pete,, ya gotta get your stuff together for this one. This "IS" the ride of the season you have been looking for. Last year when we rode it it was a frickin blast. Even in the rain it was still fun. This year no "Whiney Rose" to be putting a damper on the festivities. You were the one who originally mentioned it to me that you wanted to do it.. here it is. We will be looking forward to watching Rae school ya on the twisties!!!!! LOL!!! Naw,, just kidding,, you will have a blast on this route. ALOT of riding though to keep in mind. So packing the bags efficiently is a must.

Kelley and the girl he had with him managed to pack everything into two tiny saddlebags,, this is the biggest challenge I will face. Unless I can get a chase car so i can "Nancy" my clothes onto a coat hanger setup!!!!

Maybe Nightwolf or one of the Maple Leaf boys will show.

Now if we can get the others in the questions about the Dragon thread to commit this will be the Biggest ride ever from here. The others I am referring to Rickster, azoazc, penjo, EZrider, merlot, and Jerryzuki. If any of these are comfortable with their bikes then they are welcome to join us.

I am more than comfortable on my bike. I sell cars though so summer trips are hard but I will see what I can do. Give me a few days. I really want to do this ride. The Dragon is the best road I have ever ridden. But please, if I come, don't anyone crash trying to keep up with others.

The weekend of 3 Jun looks good so far, but I'll need to check the leave planner at work just to make sure. I will advise if this is a go. I'm looking forward to meeting a lot of the faces here as well as testing my riding skills. Better start working on my corner carving, b'cuz there ain't much here in Kansas.

You're absolutely right. I believe it's important to ride The Dragon at YOUR pace. It would be a lot more satisfying if you can complete the ride successfully and safely.

My first time I ran it on a CBR900RR. I can home with a rented Ford Explorer towing a U-haul trailer. Wanna know why?

Did you get hurt? Is there CBR parts on the tree of shame from you?

That is DEFINATELY the plan. Don't ride past your abilities and don't try to keep up. No one will get left behind,, and we NEVER leave without making sure everyone is ok and made it. If you ride at your own pace just the slow speed turns are fun. Trying to rocket through there is the part that gets your pucker puckered. I like the back of the pack myself. I think all who want to blast through there should go first and the slower riders can hang out in the back with me.

Sounds like a plan is coming together.

HAHAHA! Two tiny saddle bags ...HAve you forgotten who I am married too!
Our trip to So-Cal consisted of a small duffel for me and a suit case for High Maintenance! Even the sky cab grunted when he hoisted the bag on the scales.
Is there going to be a case vehicle? Gotta see if i can get a doggie carrier for Shotz the wonder dog. Would n't want her to miss this ride.
