Well you take better pictures that I do while driving. I snapped this a couple weeks ago when I delivered our cardbord sled to the ski lodge.

Here is the sled we entered in the derby;

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!

Hey guys,
I am torn !!!
For a newbie with 1,200 miles on his bike, all around town.... (went on I-75 once to try it out for 3 exists once)
From Sarasota, FL to Gatlinburg, TN is a good 700 miles for me.
I am not sure that I am ready for a trip like this yet!!
What do you think?
your input is greatly appreciated..

I am pretty much the same way. I got 5000 miles on the M50 but most coming in town and a few on the bypass. 500 miles is going to be stretch for me! I have a buddy maybe two coming with me. It should make the triip easier. I plan on stopping every hour for R&R.

I am just hoping the M50 can handle the trip. The pipes, FI unit and the intake has already cost me some MPG's. Not to mention my weight! LOL

Take some longer runs in the next couple of months to get ready for it.

Batman,, that is a decision that you will need to make on your own. Start making shorter trips and building distance as you go. Once you feel comfortable with your bike and your abilities then weigh it out and see if it is something you are willing to do. Same with you Farmbone. But definately riding wit friends will make any trip easier. Just make sure the people you are riding with do not ride past your abilities. They should always ride no faster than their slowest rider in a group.

As I stated they are reserving twenty rooms up until May 2nd. If the slots fill up then we can ask for more. As it stands right now we are not filling all twenty slots up.

Teach,, check with Pinhy. He may be looking for someone to room with if Mavman's room reaches capacity. The idea of the jacuzzi after a long days run sounds great to me I would have to agree.

Would love to have all of you join us but if you are not cofortable with your riding abilities I would rather you use safe judgement. If you are not ready for the riding portion we could always use a good chase car and you are more than welcome to still hang with us. I don't want to see anyone get hurt that weekend.

But Trapper's advice of practice, learn, and get as much experience as possible before that weekend is great advice!!!!!!!

Let me know if anyone else has made reservations so we can update the list.

stp1971, trappercase:
Point taken. thank u.
I will do longer runs and see how it feels...
May be I should go take a ride to Tampa every few days and stay with my son 65 miles one way from my house, and get the practice and will see how it goes.
Thanks again for the advice
you guys are planning a nice and fun ride...

I'll be allright. I'll get longer seat time. The speed is not the issue. The wind will require some getting used to. My buddies are from work. They know my riding abilities. I will be ready. I'll take my time. I had about 4000 miles on my 83 GS850. I have about 5000 on my M50. Been through the course. I will ride smart. I think this is going to be a great event. I hope to make it there and back safely! Actually, I hope all make it there and back safely!

I see the list growing some, great. Come on June! My wife is sick of hearing about this trip, haha.

Jerryzuki - may have to take you up on the trailer parking, the hotel desk clerk said that there is room but... Thanks for the offer.

Safety, safety, safety.

Good deal!!!!! Looking forward to meeting you and friends also farmbone. Get your reservations in while you can. If you get one of the 2 queen bed rooms then you can also get a couple of rollaway beds to furthur split the rooms. Or get a couple of rooms.

batman hopefully you will be up to the task by then. Check with Pinhy or HammerPete,,they both are coming from Florida and may be willing to have you tag along with them. Also check wit TODD,,he is possibly coming along also. Traveling in a group is safer and alot more fun for the adventure!!!!!!

Reserved and ready. Had a good ride on sat to Gatlinburg (chhiillyy). You've been busy since I've been away and thats great for all of us. Thanks for all the work you've done. Your first 1 is on me. You should'nt have to buy a drink all weekend. Sounds like a group toast Friday evening will be in order, I'll bring the bubbly. I'm rammbling about drinking! Just can't wait for the party, the ride, the party. It will be great to meet everyone.
DEFINITE

Thanks Man!!!!! We all apreciate everything everyone is doing. hutz,, did you get reservations at the same place we all did??? If so let us know so we can keep a tally on the rooms used by our group. I invited my mom's cousin's husband and her along and he said they will know something maybe in the next week or so. Willie has met him and rode with him before on one of our local rides we did.

Glad to have you on board hutz!!!! I might take you up on that offer for the beer. I am also looking forward to the trip up there, the partying, the ride, the partying, and the ride back home. Looking forward to meeting you. Did you get a chance to check out the Terrace resort???

Yes, I'll be there. 2 queens/no cuzzi.
I stopped at a couple places just as you get into town from pigeon forge.1 said call back monday to get group rates and 1 wasn't interested in hosting a bike event??????????????
It was really cool and windy so I didn't spend alot of time looking so I could get back before dark. 120 mile round trip, cold, but nice to be back in the saddle. Good thing you went with your gut and started the ball rolling. I'll try and get up there and check it out and let you know if the web info is good. Thanks again. Hope more people get on board.

I appreciate it. I think we will do alright. I think i have stayed there bfore a long time ago. If I remember right it was pretty nice and I think it will be fine. If yo want to go check it out that will be fine but don't worry yourself with it. As you said there were not that many people wanting to host a group even at non-discounted rates. They have been nothig but helpful to me and more than appreciative to us coming there. I do hope you all have had the same treatment as well. I will put you down for staying there and will post a new list. Thanks again hutz and everyone else.
