| No suggestions but I will be watching this thread to see what the responses are. Maybe we can ride sometime, I didn't know there was anyone else on here from this area.

As you are heading down that way you can cut over to Brasstown Bald and go up there to check it out. Forget the Hwy number but continue on around and then cut over to Suches. There are several places to stay in the area. Suches has a resort for motorcycles only but you will find much better accomadations in Helen. Helen has several hotels and numerous rental condos. Somewhat of a nightlife on Fridays and Saturdays,, a couple of bars,, but that is the jest of it. I will look into a couple of routes. I found a book that a police officer wrote that shows alot of different routes that you can take in the area. Of course you can always do the Dragon and then work your way down towards Robinsville then towards Helen from there. I did a huge ride last 4th of July weekend that I cannot remember if I posted the route or not,, but it covered all those areas. If I can remember I will get the name of that book and post it here.

| Thanks for the info. I've got the fever and making plans. Piney mentioned you were organizing somethig Memorial day? It would be fun to get together with some forum folks. Where is Douglasville? I also want to take a trip to Barber this spring and tour the museum.

We are tossing around the idea of the Ginnie Springs trip Memorial Day weekend. Before that there is Thunder Beach at Panama City, Florida in April. We are also tossing around the idea of doing a Dragon's tail road trip sometime around June/ July time frame. That one is a little too far off. We will probably stay away from the higher elevations in the mountains until it warms up some. Not an avid cold weather rider. Will do it if need be but I do not look forward to freezing my arse off. When I find the name of that book I will let you know. He did three or four books that showed backroad routes,, has lodging information, and restaurants that are good to stop at. There was one restaurant that we stopped at halfway past Suches going east on that road I cannot remember. But they had the BEST BBQ and fish that I have eaten in a long time. Wouldn't think it from the road,, but it is worth the trip to there.

Their website is on the internet and they can tell you the name of the three books. Just ask them about the Atlanta police officer that has written the best routes to take book. admendment: I called them and they said to go to www.milestonepress.com and the name of the books are called "Motorcycle adventures" by Hawk Hagenbak. Milestone press is out of Cherrybark, NC. I highly recommend this set of books. I have two of the three and the third I do not have goes further up the Appalachian trail. Check it out.
