Well 1974 was the first year of the big bumper cars. I will have to say that the 1969 model to the 1972 model cars with the small bumpers are the cool cars. Then in 1973 they introduced the somewhat larger front bumper to comply with federal mandated crash standards which allowed them to still run the smaller bumper in the rear. Along comes 1974 and they jacked the bumpers to large front and rear. 1975 saw even larger bumpers that even some four wheel drive trucks would be envious of. But yeah,, I can see an old woman driving that car!!!!

Mavericks were cool cars..They had great lines to them and took to customizing well. Maybe Doug is a little obtuse, and can't use his imagination to see a Mav with a 460 c.i. engine stuffed in the bay, with a coil over rear, tubbed and tubed, a giant hood scoop with either a tunnel ram dual carb setup or a blower (injection is nice, but I'd rather be blown). Nor could he probably picture said animal with it's bumper facing skyward as it launches so hard it folds up the 32's with twelve pounds of pressure in them. Of course, the only thing that could probably beat it would be a Vega with a similiar setup. Nah....Doug couldn't picture that...he's in love with them Wanker engines. | |
