Talking Ducati project

So I posted this on another forum and didnt get a warm fuzzy reception. So I figured I'd try it here and see what happens

I bought a wrecked 2001 Ducati Monster 749cc dark. I really just wanted the motor, but ended up keeping the motor, swingarm, and wiring. There really wasnt anything left to keep.

I then made my own frame around the motor and swingarm. Its a chopper style frame because I am a chopper guy. Then I added front forks from a ATV so I could use a 17" rim with a 180 series tire. Out back - a matching rim with 180 series tire as well. The handlebars are 16" apehangers. Dual spotlight headlights, a rear tire hugger instead of an actual fender, solo seat, and a modified gas tank from a Johnny Pag Spyder (chinese chopper).

Its insane - but should be cool as hell when its finished.

Wow. You're one brave SOB. I'd be eskerred to take that out on the street with a 180 front. Wouldn't a 150 been ok, too?

IIRC Exile Cycles and a couple of others go that big on the front with no ill effects.

hahah - well I'm glad I found someplace that appreciates it. I love it. Its a big, bad, fast, fat bike.
I do have some more pics... I will add them in a second.

Thanks guys. I really worked hard on this to get it to this point and the other forum called me a joke, and said it was %%%%%. But all of their bikes looked the same.

and heres what it looked like when I started....

with everything stripped off it:

then I made the backbone, chopped the stock ducati frame so i could use the mounts, borrowed the neck of a 1976 Goldwing frame I had laying around, and hardtailed the swingarm. I used front trees from a Yamaha Big Wheel off road bike, made my own axle and used the rear wheel from a Hyosung GV650. Its a 180 ZR rated 17" wheel. cornering wont be a real big deal with that style tire and wheel.
I am working on the gas tank now - finishing modifying it so I can bolt it down, making a battery box up front and adding peg mounts on the front downtubes. The rear wheel is ordered from a 06 GSXR-1000 (if i remember right) - will also be a 180 ZR as well - 17". Standard chopper solo seat and some 16" apehangers.

paint will be solid gloss black. Trees, frame, tank, rear tire hugger, bars. The only color will be the silver motor, silver wheels, and white lettering on the sides of the gas tank that say "ducati".

Thanks everyone. I really love this project and I've been dying to talk about it...

I got impatient waiting for controller boards to be made so I dropped a 200cc kickstart motor in it

Screw them.

I'd be proud to ride it even if it never ran. I'd be happy to take turns coasting it down hill.
