well - i moved the motor and swingarm out to the garage yesterday after work. I am hoping to be able to start mating it with the chopped goldwing frame this weekend (as in 10 hours from now haha).

I wont be reinstalling the front end just yet either. I have a front fender tab on one of the forks I want to chop off and I need to add soem black fork boots after I have the trees powdercoated silver.

Then - after I test fit the engine into the frame, I have to box the top of the frame to make the hidden gas tank. I will also need to add a rear section of the frame for the cafe seat pan and rear shock mounts. After that - the whole frame will be powdercoated silver too.

I have the gears I needed to replace on the motor - so I can throw those back on. I also have the exhaust headers I can install. Not sure on the rest of the exhaust yet - it will have to wait until I have the bike nearly finished before I will know what to do there.

I have the rear rim, but need a 180 series tire for it.

Its a ways from being finished and ride-able, but its definitely something fun to build! I will try to update with some pictures this weekend.

so the goldwing frame with boxed in gas tank wouldn't work. Well - it might have worked, but the gas tank would've had to have been half the size I was originally wanting because the top of the ducati motor rested inside it.

So I went back to the first modified goldwing frame. I cleaned it up and installed a nice clean neck plate along the single backbone to really clean up the looks of it. I had to realize that this particular biek may never get finished if I dont accept that it may not become the cafe racer I originally wanted. I have everything to make it a wicked chopper and I have decided to go ahead and go that route. I cleaned up the gas tank and will be cleaning up the handlebars as well. So its back to chopper...

oh well - should still be cool...

well - ladies and gentlemen - I am trying to sell the ducati engine and swingarm and wiring. I dont want to, but I just lost my job of four years due to company downsizing (you all know the routine) so I am unloading my projects to cover bills until I get another job.

Heres the ebay link:
eBay Motors: 2001 Ducati 750 Monster engine, swingarm, and wiring (item 260375237872 end time Mar-17-09 08:19:48 PDT)

For any of you following this project - you know I have lots of extra parts - including the one off custom chopper frame that I will include if someone from the forums mentions it.

I hate to see it go, but you gotta do what you gotta do...

wow - so a bunch has happened since the last update on the ducati project. You're gonna love this guys!

So I finally decided I had to sell my project - hated to do it, but without a job ya have to do things like this. So I listed it for sale - no bites. NADA. The whole time I was kinda hoping in the back of my heart that it wouldnt sell, and I was finishing the work on the frame I made just in case it didnt sell, I could sell it as a roller project.

Well after finishing the work to the frame and fitting it for the final test fitting before painting the frame - I noticed a little crack at the mounting point on the front. hmmm.... upon further examinsation - the crack was pretty long. The mounting point is on the block, so it isnt something I can fix. CRAP!

So now I have decided that I cant sell it with that crack - it isnt safe. So I stripped the entire motor down and am sadly parting it out on ebay right now. I guess its good that I happened to see the crack and that no one bought it. That would've sucked big time. But its also good I didnt finish the project because I could've really got hurt.

So the project is dead. onto the next one...

How sad... As for the next project, are you thinking another Cati?

Nope - next project is already underway. Un-triked the Hyosung GV650 and did a total frame chop and drop. Wheel swap and bobber style rigid. Tins are painted and just about to paint the frame this week.

Just didnt think anyone on the forums cared about the Hyosung brand so I didnt post anything about it here.

Negative on the new job front. Its dismal out there. I am returning to school and going to get my EMT Basic certification so I should hopefully be ok in a few months.

I like Hyosungs as well - they are affordable, decently built, unique, powerful, etc... I have the 650cc cruiser, the 650cc, sport bike, and had a 250cc sportbike. All were very good bikes. I need to look on here and see if there is an "Others" section - haha.
