| I was changing the oil when I noticed antifreeze all over the bottom of my engine. I checked the antifreeze level and couldnt see any,so I filled it up and it started running down the bottom of the pipe. I was wondering what it could be, I was told it might be a blown gasket. But dont whan't to tear the engine down without being sure.

| Sounds like a blown head gasket as you stated. Not hard at all to fix. Can be done in about 30 minutes. Just make sure you clean both the head and the cylinder faces so they are clean and smooth. Also put a very very very thin film of grease on both sides of the head gasket. This will save you buying a headgasket the next time you have to remove the head. Also make sure you have the alignment dowel and the copper washers on the head nuts in the propper places. Also use 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water becuase you have an aluminium radiator. Also make sure to bleed all the air out of the coolant system when completed and top off with more coolant mix.

| Ditch Magnet ![]() | Headgaskets popping on a 2 stroke are VERY unlikely. If its on the bottome on the engine and the frame, my guess would be that its getting to warm and is bubbling in the radiator and some excess is going into the excess drainage hose. They end down there.

| I beg to differ....It may not be an everyday occurance BUT with that said I have seen it happen enough to know that it is a good bet this is his problem. I have been riding 2 stroke MXers since 1978 and have had it happen 2 times to me on a 1982 RM125 and a 1988 RM125. The 1982 bike leaked coolant into the cylinder which is bad news as it will breakdown the oil trying to lubricate the pistpnj and cylinder walls, On the 1988 RM 125 it leaked out over the exhaust and was easy to spot.
