Default clutch...

I've got an 84 pe175..runs great. but recently when i take it out, after i warm it up, i go to pull in the clutch it and feels like its engaging all the way but its not because it stalls when i put it into gear, if i pump the clutch a few times, then try again it usually works but sometimes i even have to pump it more and then it works. but after that the clutch works great. Is that normal? and if not, how do i prevent it?thxs

you may need new fluid in the line. the o-ring by the lever may be gone. usually you can pick up a rebuild kit. don't forget to bleed the air out of the line.

but if the bike stalls when the clutch is all the way in, dosen't that mean that the clutch is not disengaging all of the way?

I am assumeing that there is a hydraulic clutch on this bike, and check the oil...

I had an old KDX that did this. When cold I would pull the lever a bunch of times and then roll the bike a bit before slamming in gear. Then I would give it gas with the clutch pulled in and as soon as it slipped it would be fine all day. I think this was a common problem.

thxs richep, i kinda thought it was just something to do with the way the mechanical clutches were made in the 80's because my cousin has a 93 rm80 and it never does it to him.
