Default Running in a 4 stroke

When running in a 4-stroke, is it ok to use cheap oil and change it regularly or is it better to use a high quality oil? also, if I want to run it in on the workstand, how long shoul I run it for? How often should I re-adjust the vlave clearance?
The bike is a DR200. I have honed the bore and replaced the rings and given it a valve grind. Stem seals have also been replaced.

Hi Drider,

Sounds like you are getting your bike together. Alot of people have different views on oils. I personally feel most oils suffice as long as it is not energy conserving, my manual states 10w40 is recommended but I hear the Mobil1 Synthetic 15w50 is pretty good. I use 10w40 Mobile drive clean which is pretty inexpensive and since this was the first oil change on the bike I'm going to keep an eye on the color of the oil to determine how many miles to change it at. Riding conditions have alot to do with oil change intervals. Not sure how often to adjust valves, probably shouldn't be very often, the motors are pretty solid, and running on the bike stand shouldn't hurt it, I can't see any reason to run it on the stand for more than 15 minutes at a time to do adjustments.
