Default sprocket

I just have a quick question, im not stupid when it comes to bikes but for some reason i cant remember if a bigger rear sprocket will give more accel. or a smaller rear sprocket will, i know a smaller front sprocket will but i cant remember about the rear. please help thanks.

more accel == bigger rear / smaller front

more top speed == smaller rear / bigger front
