Hey guys, i just purchased a '74 TS250 for $100. All that was wrong with it was the clutch push rod (rod that when you pull the clutch levers, pushes the clutch disks out, incase you didn't know), a simple $7 fix. So now I got it running, ran it around the yard a few times.
Now theres a few other questions. Whats the shifting pattern on this bike? I thought it was down 1 for first, up 4, but it doensn't shift down from neutral. It seems as though neutral is at the bottom, and I'm having problems shifting up. I hold the clutch and shift up while in neutral, and it takes me to what i believe to be 1st. I try to shift again while in motion but it doesn't seem to shift. I think it might be the gear in the clutch box misaligned maybe, or at least I hope. When I got this bike there were no other reported problems besides the Clutch push rod.
Now about the VIN #. I've search the bike frame up by the handle bars and down by the engine and found 2 numbers. One number was engraved on the frame, and the other by the engine on a tag, both starting with TS2503-#####. They were both different after the -, and I can't remember them. I can't find any other number than that though. There is a stick on the frame telling where it was made, and then theres a metal strip on that sticker, but the sticker has been painted over. I scratched off as much paint as possible, but It rendered most the tag unreadable. Although, on that tag on the sticker by the handlebars, I can read the last few numbers, and their the same last numbers as the TS2503- number engraved in the frame.
