Question 97 rmx 250

I just had the top end done and some gears changed. Is taking it out on a paddle in soft sand and just not opening it up all the way alright for breaking it in? If so, how long do I need to do this? I dont want to jack the motor up again right away.

THanks for the help and suggestions...

just had a top end put in my RM250......called a dealer about the break in time and he said just dont go wide open for an hour or two so the ring can heat up and set correctly and all the gaskets can get warm and set right then he said i could rip on it again......IMO i'd stay off the sand and putt around a bit....just to be safe.......then have a blast
