Most of the time as we go thru life it's just good to keep low keyed or just sneek by without being noticed. The other day as I rode my mud stained DRZ400s thru traffic it was hard not to be seen. Coming from the desert after a good rain storm the DRZ & rider were both a sight. A stop at each traffic signal brought looks from the old & young. After each start as I crossed the intersections mud flew from the faithful DRZ. Not just alittle mud...much mud. I kept thinking thats got to be the end but still more mud kept flying out at cars passing by. Then the mud started falling from my riding boots. Pulling up to the stop sign a Califorinan asked if I was allowed to ride on the streets with my cycle. I could see the envy in his eyes so with a big smile & a nod... yes slipped from my muddy lips. The question I have been asked by many misguided Harley riders & road riders alike. So where have you been on that bike? A question that has a long answer...everywhere I can. The rides in the desert & mountains seem to never end. The best response I ever got from a hog rider (who at frist I thought was gonna beat me up) was when he said "that's what I should have bought". For those of us who enjoy the choice of on & off road we know what the other riders are missing. My dirt rider friends don't understand why I don't ride with them. That's just what I want to do, load & unload my DRZ from a truck...Not! I'll ride my DRZ So as I continue to grow old & make new friends who also enjoy the dualsport life. I will once agian try my best to stay low & not make waves. Ride safe, JD Las Vegas,Nevada

Sounds like fun. the last time I did something like that was 35+ years ago, and as I remember, it was a blast. Riding solo, espically off road, you are more free to express yourself, with fewer rules. I think that's were the envy comes in, I know I am envious as well.

Nothing like a strong dual-sport job. I traded my DR650 along with another bike for my Meanie last year. I also bought my wife a Vulcan 500 for the street. She misses the dirt road/trail riding we used to do together. We still have the DR200 Suzy standing by. So guess what? I want my 650 back! I'm in the process of hunting down the hobby guy who bought it from the dealer. It's just one of those things you can't get out of your blood once it's been in your blood. Ride safely
