Default Vinson crank seal failure???

My new vinson auto had the v belt saturated with motor oil. The dealer said the oil blew by the crank seal because of the crankcase vent possiblly being plugged with ice from the extreme cold. I run this machine every day no matter what the temperature is. The dealer said they have this problem quite frequently on the honda generators. This sounds reasonable to me and I have slit the crankcase vent tube to prevent this from happening again.

Any further input/advice appreciated.

I would suggest owners running these machines in winter give the vent tube a squeeze now and again.

Suzuki did cover the labour and a new belt under warrantee.

i have a vinson and i know there where times where it was a ball of ice and never had this problem

this sounds bad so did the ice get in the top of the vent or middle was it the front or rear vent

and cutting the vent sounds like a bad idea to me if you live in a state that gets summer too because when that belt gets wet you have to drain it
