| Ditch Magnet ![]() | 1986 suzuki sp 125 6v electronic system. I hook up a batterey charger to the pos and neg terminals to go 6v. Everything works well signals, lights bells whistles ect ect. I disconnect the charger and check the terminal voltage running through at idle with a dig multimeter.. Only 3v even when the engine is reved up 3 or 4v coming through... I believe at idle it should come around 7-9v to constantly charge the batterey.. Why is there only 3v coming through.. I thought it might be a bad connection in grounf wire or pos batterey.. Corossion.. Which could be the problem... But when i run 6v through the wires the bike electronic system is very happy. There is a stator... umm... The spark is strong.. VERY strong.. (Never stick finger in plug socket and kick the engine over.) Any suggestions are appreciated... I will check the wiring to make sure of no corossion.. There may be some around the pos terminal at the fuses.. other than a bad conection.. What could it be... Stator... ???

| It's "battery". Oh, am I ever on your tail now, bud. You poked at another member for spelling and you're among the worst offenders. Just kidding, of course. But seriously, what's with the double periods? BTW, just because you stung your foolish finger doesn't mean the spark voltage is normal. Are you using the meter properly? I don't know the proper use myself, but there are many reasons why you might get a low reading.

| Ditch Magnet ![]() | I will test the connections and what not with my multimeter according to my repair manual.. I think if everything is okay and within tolerances I would look into wiring and connections. Just was wondering if anyone had a problem similar to this and what they could suggest.. I was messing with that therapy dude. I know I do a million more than anybody on this forum and I like the double periods.... Simulates a pause for me.. Helps me think better when I`m typing.. I`m not even kidding, I do it by reflex.

| Try a dash (-) or a new paragraph. Elipses (...) are made with three periods in the middle of a sentence or four at the end. Making up your own punctuation just confounds people. Where do you get those backward apostrophes (')? The reverse slant makes me tilt my head as though I'm leaning to the side.

| Yea... Rowdy... kinda shows a pause or an UH-OH, what now, J/K. I do it also, sorry. TS, you may have a shorted cell in the battery, with the battery charger hooked up you will read the voltage amount of the charger. Unhook the charger and you read the voltage of the shorted battery. Just a thought, had a tow-motor at work, kept changing voltage regulators and alternators and it would still do it, found battery to be bad. |

| Ditch Magnet ![]() | My batterey is dead FOR SURE.. But I thought with the battery disconnected and i test the positive and negative terminals of the wires NOT OF THE BATTEREY with the engine running it should be around 7 or 8 volts... Or would it only charge with a batterey connected?? Figure A is what i`m testing what should the multimeter read. How many volts approx. keep in mind this is a 6v bike
