Default Fresh top end - how do I know

Hey. How do I know if a two-stroke needs a new top end? They smoke all the time anyway.

When you say 'top end' do you mean rings? The best indicator of their condition is a compression test (as long as the head gasket is good). What are the symptoms? If it is just down on power, their could be a whole lot of reasons for this. If you are unsure of the condition of the bore/rings, then stripping it down would be a good place to start.
