Default HELP!!! JR50 NO power, kids accuse Santa of bringing 'crap'

Can anyone help me with this? I've got a 98 JR50 that I picked up used in good shape and gave to my kids for Xmas. It has been nothing but trouble. Generally it will start easily enough, but after it gets good and warm, it boggs something terrible, stalls constantly, and has NO power. Especially at low end. At first, it worked okay and my kids rode it a good bit. Now however, it almost doesn't work at all. I've had the carb off, soaked it for two days in cleaner, and blew out all the galleries with compressed air. Thing looks new inside. I've tweaked the pilot and idle screws in just about every way imaginable. But still, the thing won't run right. It doesn't seem to have used much 2-cycle oil so I'm wondering if the pump is clogged and I've hosed the top end. But if that was true, I would think I'd be seeing smoke, but none. My kids are clamouring to ride and accusing Santa of bringing 'crap' ( ). Any advice would be more than appreciated. (If I need to do a top end, could I put in a higher compression ratio piston and get a little more power out of this toy, then change the sprokets for better low end pull?)
