Unhappy Suzuki DR200se 2001 Starter wont work.

Hi!

I am new to this site, and i have a question.

I bought a used DR200 from the MSF people here in Alaska. The bike runs great, has all of 5000 miles on it, has always had regular maint. So I ride the bike for about two weeks and everything works great, but then all of the sudden the electric start doesn't work. No sound is made upon pushing the button, so I push started it and it works great and I get home and turn it off then press the start button and it works!

Now i get up in the morning and use the button to start it and it works great the bike gets me to work no problem, then about 5 hours later I go to start it again and the electric start button doesn't work!
I push start it and works great again, then I notice that the left rear signal doesn't work and the front left signal stays solid!

So, I am heading home on the highway and the bike just sputters down to nothing, like it ran out of gas, which might be very likely because I have no idea how big the tank is, I walked the bike about a mile to the gas station and filled up and I put in about 2.7 gallons.

Then I go to push start and cant get the thing to start for the life of me. So I get home about two hours later and end up push starting it and it works fine.

SO... (catches breath)

Recap

- Electric start won't work (no noise at all)

- Left rear signal light wont work

- Left front signal stays solid

- I am in the process of charging the battery, but checked it with a voltometer and it read 12.6v which sounds right to me.

so any ideas on what i should do next?

Default Figured it out!

LOL

I figured it out!

So, the blinker problem and the starting problem where two different things.

The blinker problem is coming from a ripped wire from the light to were the wire harness plugs in...
I am ordering a new turn signal assy.

The Starter problem was narrowed down between the starter relay and the start motor. I had no clue how to tell the difference, so I called a local mechanic and they were more than happy to tell me how to do it. What he said was to bypass the relay and see it the starting motor tries to turn over the motor, and if the motor turns over than it is your starter relay that is bad and if the motor doesnt turn over than it is your starting motor that is messed up. So I ran out to my garage and tried bypassed the starer relay and PRAISE THE LORD the engine tried to turn over!!!! So the starter relay is the culprit and not the start motor (a 200 dollar difference in parts let alone the headache it would have been changing it!)

So I am in the process of ordering a new starter relay. I'm looking around online to see who can get it to me the fastest (trying for Monday because I am impatient and reallllllllly want to ride.)

Ok, well if any of you have any suggestions on where to order, just let me know.
