Default 01 cr 80

My son has an 01 cr80. Someone borrowed it and when they returned it was blowing out an excessive amount of oil from the exhaust side of the head and running like %%%%. I figured it needed a top end, so I have since replaced the piston, rings, cylinder and head. It's not dumping oil but I can't get it to run right. It seems to be a fuel delivery problem. I've completely gone through the carb, I've set the needle at every setting, I can get it to idle fine and it rips at the top end, but right off idle and through the mid range it wants to fall on it's face or die. the reeds look ok but I don't know enough about two strokes to tell, and I don't want to keep throwing money at this for parts it doesn't need, I know I probably already have. Any advise anyone has for me wuold be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Wicked Bros.

I have ran into this before on a KX60 and an older RM400 and this may sound
goofy but it worked. Buy a new bike, no just kidding, remove the muffler and
or the spark arrester and clean them out good and repack them with new
packing. Also clean out the exhaust pipe as good as possible, I can't really
tell you why but I was told years ago to do this and it worked, both bikes
were considerably louder and leaking oil all over the front of the motor and
when I cleaned and repacked the exhaust the leaks stopped. Some of the
bikes also have a gasket between the cylinder and exhaust pipe, check that.
