| Couple quick questions. I'm doing my first fresh Top-end job on the is cr80 and have taken the head and cylinder off, and the piston skirt shattered and dropped into the crank area. I'm using ATF to flush it out, but wasn't sure how much oil (i'm assuming the same oil i use for the fuel mix, to put back into the crank area.) Second question is, I have play in piston arm left and right, but no vertical play. is that correct or should there be no play left and right either? I want to make sure I don't shatter the skirt on the exhaust valves. So should I drop the $160 bucks for a new crank. Third question is, does anybody have any tricks or links for installing the new Weisco piston and gasketts? i.e. torque #'s on the head and cylinder etc.....Thanks! |

| Third gear and cruising ![]() | I think you would want to split the cases to ensure you have pulled all the fragments from the piston skirt out. It's a lot of work but at least you wont have to worry about catastophic failure due to a rogue piece of aluminum. Also, I don't think you should have to buy a new crank though you may want to spring for a connecting rod kit. For that and to aid with the above you should probably buy a sevice manual. Bryce Also, the manual will give you the factory torque specs and whatnot. short of that you can get general torque specs with a quick internet search as long as you know the size of the stud you are working with.

| a little side to side play is ok, tolerance is usually something like 2-4mm generally, cylinder bolts are about 20 pounds and head bolts are about 22 pounds (could be the other way around) make sure to re-check them after the first warm up and then again after break-in. |
