Default Yamaha RT 180

I just bought an rt 180 yamaha and it runs good but i have to leave the choke on or at least i think. I leave it pulled out (the choke pull) and it runs fine but from what it says that means the choke is on. Is it reversed or should it be pushed in, because whenever I push in the choke pull it bogs down and stalls. Please HELP!!!

i could be way wrong, but i remember a bit from when i was 6 i used to race dirtbikes from how i understand it all the choke does is raise the idle rate so that the bike will stay running while it warms up, when you turn the choke off it should go back to its normal idle, you said it stalls with the choke off, the idle is probably set to low cause it to stall...

i could be wrong, but seems logical to me!

3 possible problems
1) idle speed (try holding the revs higher with the throttle to see if it still stalls)
2) idle too lean (but this could easily be the next one im suggesting)
3) idle circuit blocked?
only ideas i can come up with that'd explain the behaviour
