Default Sitting CR

I have a 2005 Honda CR125. It just sits most of the time because I work 2 months on 10 days off. I usually turn the petcock off and then let the bike run out of fuel so the carb doesn't sit with the fuel in it and get all gummed up. But I forgot a couple of brakes back now it won't start. I have tried changing the plug(something I have to do often anyways), but to no avail. Should I just take the carb off and try to fix it or leave it to the pros?

pull off the carb, remove float bowl, take out pilot and main jets and clean out the jets with carb cleaner and compressed air. set the float. its easy work, taking it to the shop would be a waste of money, not to mention take them forever to get to and get back to you. the whole job takes maybe 30 minutes. I would also drain the tank and use fresh pre-mix.
