Default 1997 suzuki rm80 engine idle

Has anyone information on what could be causing this problem -
our suzuki rm80 starts and runs fine - about 15 minutes into riding , the engine acts like it is starved for gas and will not idle by itself. Try kick starting and acts like not getting gas. Eventually after it sits a few minutes you can get it started again. I have pulled and cleaned the entire carb and checked the fuel line from gas tank - new plugs , makes no difference. It seems to be fuel starved after it warms up , almost like some temp problem or some kind of back pressure that the gas is just not getting to the carb.
If I check the bowl of the carb , it does have plenty of gas , Could the float be shot and not keeping a steady flow of incoming gas? I can't figure out why it runs great for this short time them just no power and can't keep it idling /running. ANY suggestions!! Thanks so much

this may help

How To Set Your Motorcycle Carburetor Float Level (more commentary). - All Things Moto!

as long as they don't have a leak letting gas in to them, the floats should be ok, the inlet needle is a wearable part though and may need replaced

I had this same problem....I found that I was getting fuel to the carb. After it sits a few minutes the bowl fills up allowing it to run for a few minutes.
What I found was that the carb fuel inlet was stopped up. It was not letting enough fuel through to keep the bowl full while riding. I removed the needle seat and ran a small piece of wire (bread tie) through the fuel port. Believe it or not, it was full of trash. Adjusted the float thanks to privateer and it runs perfect now. Hope this helps......

Could be a float sticking closed OR a restricted fuel line BUT it sounds like you may have already eliminated those possibilities.

Check the gas tank vent. It is usually IN the filler cap. If it is plugged or not working right OR the cap has been replaced with the wrong one...........it will cause exactly the problem you are seeing. After running for a while, the tank develops a vacuume and the gas stops flowing.
