Exclamation IN NEED OF HELP-regarding a rmx 250

hello, im in dire need of some help.
the last time i took out my 1998 rmx 250, i noticed it was having some problems, including backfiring and also stalling in low revs.

a week or so later, my father and myself removed the headlight and the excess wiring, and then wired it all back up how the manual instructed. we even pulled and cleaned the carby apart to make sure that the back firing wasnt the carby.

we went to kick it over, and it wouldnt start. it would backfire almost after every kick,

we have checked everything over numerous times, we know its not something mechanical, we have checked the compression. we know its electrical, we sent the CDI box over to a company that specialises in bike electrics, and they said it was ok. we have fitted a condenser. and still the bike wont run. it has a healthy spark but it just wont start, we are puzzled. we still suspect its the CDI box

just wondering is anyone else has had this problem-we would try a CDI box but to buy a new one would cost $1000 AU. so we dont want to spend that amount without knowing it is the box that is causing the problem.

any help would be apreciated-

thanks

Check the timing. My timing bolt came loose once and gave me similar symptoms.... Can you push start it? Tried putting some carb cleaner (or something similar) in the cylinder to prime it?

yeah thanks, we wernt able to roll start it. we are thinking of checking the pick up coil.we are sure its electrical. and we had the mechanic check the spark, and it sparks but as soon as the revs pick up the spark goes...would this be the CDI?

thanks
