Default Helmet cameras...

Are people generally interested in helmet cameras?

I'm a cheapskate.

Not to mention you usually have to have a regular video camera to plug it into

You can plug it into a small DVR very easily.

If you just want to play around with helmet cams and/or cams strapped to the bike here's a cheap way to get started

Amazon.com: Oregon Scientific ATC 2K Action Cam Flash Memory Camcorder: Camera & Photo

They're only $84.99 now. Records to SD Memory cards (which you probably already own for your digital cams), runs on AA batteries (I recommend rechargeables) and is water proof. Nice all in one unit and is great way to play with taking video on the bike without spending a fortune. I like it so much I've had two. Unfortunately I destroyed the first one but its so good I bought the same unit to replace it

That seems like it might be cool for a dirt bike or 4x4 but I dont think it would work well at all for street riding b/c they move so much faster. Anyway, could yout post a short vid using it St0nkingByte??
