Default 1977 ds 185 carb issues

i have a 1977 ds185 and the carb had 3 lines that were cut and plugged on the bike when i got it it ran fine and made decent power but wouldn't idle worth a crap and fowl out so i take the carb apart and theres no needle valve so i replaced it and now will idle all day long but dies out unless its running on the choke then it runs rich, so my question is since i didnt see a diaphram or pump in the carb diagram but there are the 3 lines that were cut and plugged are they vacume lines secondary fuel lines or vents ? i cant really tell what lines go to from the carb diagram. and cant find any info on what they go. any idea were i can get this info?

these lines, are there two running out the sides near the top and one from the float bowl? I'm pretty sure you're talking about the vent hoses. unclog them or replace if nessesary, then set your float and see how far that gets you

every bike is different on the float height, you'd have to check a manual

I'm not familiar with the ds 185. Is it a suzuki trail bike? If the bike had no needle valve (the needle running done the center of the slide? or the actual needle jet that the needle passes through?) in it and now won't run off idle it seems to me it's a mixture problem. The float level shouldn't be killing it, unless it's way way to high. The running only on the choke says LEAN (as in no gas). If the float was set so high as to not let the bike run the choke wouldn't help because the gas from the choke (or enricher cicuit) comes from the float bowl too. Get a little more specific and I'm sure we can help you get it going.

its a lean mixture problem, i dont how to correct it if its a float adjustment or if its a jet im not sure, but it was the needle valve off the float that was taken out to richen the mix but it would flood the carb and thats why the lines are plugged im guessing. but i replaced the lines with unplugged ones and it still leaks gas but not as much but it still lean so im guessing jet maybe? any one know the stock size so i can get a fatter size?

and i am looking for a manual for the bike but cant find one any were.
