I just bought a 2004 vinson 500 manual. It has about 200 miles on it now.
From the first day I bought it, it has a knock when its under a load. The noise seems to be in the crank case area on the right side. I had the dealership listen to it and they said its normal, but I am not convinced. No other type of bike I have rode sound like this. Is it really normal?

I have a vinson auto and have not noticed a knock however you may be hearing something I consider normal. Is the knock still noticeable?

I would say if it is loud enough to hear while riding, that would not be normal. Dealershipos will pass off anything they can as "Normal". I would investegate it on your own or take it to a different dealer and see what they say.

My 2003 Vinson 5-Spd does the same thing... I would say it's normal. it doesn't really sound like valve knock as far as I can tell..
