Default A couple Questions about an older bike...

The bike is a 1984 PE 175.

First question:
The last couple trips that I've taken the bike out, it stalls after about 10-15 minutes of riding. It doesn't just quit either, it bogs down unexcpectedly, then slowly dies. I try kicking it over, but no luck. I push it back, let it sit for about 10 minutes and it'll start back up again and do the same thing as before. Now it did this 2 weeks ago, but after I let it sit after it died, I started it up and rode fine the rest of the day, with the exception of some sputtering occasionally. What's going on?
I know thats a vague description, but I'm drawing a blank right now.
I've cleaned the carb, changed the plug, changed the filter, cleaned out the air lines and fuel lines. Although, I haven't tried it since I changed the air filter, I can't see that being the problem anyway. The only thing I haven't done yet, is adjust the float, to see if it was off, could that be it?

Secondly...
I need a new silencer, since they don't make aftermarket applications for these bikes anymore, could I buy one for an older RM125 or similar, would that work, I'm willing do some modifying if I need to.
The one I'm looking at is a Power Core 2, they any good?

Sounds almost like vapor lock. My old GPZ would do that occasionally when riding down the highway. It would die, I'd wait a couple minutes and it would start right up.

Also, I don't know if you have a boot going from the carb attaching it to the engine, but you might want to check it for leaks by spraying some wd40 or carb cleaner around the edges to see if it idles up. Could be an air leak causing it to overheat and run lean.

Is this electronic ignition or does it use points? could also be the control module (I forget what they're called) for the EI. Mine would overheat and die as well.

I've had this sort of thing happen before and it turned out that the coil was malfunctioning when it would get hot. After it cooled down, it worked again. Here's a way to test it. Run it until this condition occurs. Have a spark plug wrench in your pocket so that you can immediately pull the plug after it dies. Lay it against the cylinder where you can see the gap and kick it over. If you have no spark, then it is an electrical problem, such as the coil or cdi. If it sparks, it must be mechanical.
