Default 2003 Dr650

Hey guys

I'm looking at a 2003 DR650 and would like to hear from people who have one. What do you think of this bike?

Thanks

Allan

I had a 2003 & currently own a 2005. I also had a DR 200 as a starter bike for my wife. The DR series of bike is arguably the most rock solid, reliable-as-a-hammer bike that I know of in its class. It does off road and street quite well. It is less dirt-worthy than the Honda XR650L, but more dirt-worthy than the Kawasaki KLR 650. The comfort factor is better than the Honda, but not as good as the KLR. The DR is a snap to work on, and all I've fed them is gas, oil and tires, about 15,000+ miles worth between all of them. If you're going to do dirt, I would recommend going 1 tooth down on the front sprocket. That would make the gearing where it should be (IMO) for a good mix of street and dirt. If you do that, just don't crack the throttle wide open in 1st gear! The best of luck and safe riding if you decide to go with it.
Regards
