| It has been said that my bike should get 80+ MPG; however, I've been getting 50-60. I don't ride rough and I don't go above 45 mph. However, my commute to work goes through some hilly roads, but when I go down, I coast. I also maintain the proper tire pressure (check it every other day). At first I thought my idle was too high, so I adjusted it lower. I've been using regular unleaded gas. However, my last fill-up I decided to go with premium to see if it helps my mileage. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips for me to imrove my MPG or why it is so low?? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

| TurtleWax Taster ![]() | I know on my rebel I get anywhere from 55 to 80 mpg. If I ride 55 or so I will get up to 80 and if i run 70 I get closer to 55. Are your plugs good, air filter clean? I would run some sea foam through it and see if that helps. It helps remove depositefrom your carb and angine.

| viper94bite: how can I tell if my bike is running too rich? is it adjustable? jkersh: i usually ride no faster than 50. The previous owner got new spark plugs back in 04, do you think I may need to replace them? they haven't ridden it since 04 though... Also, I just cleaned the air foam filter so that may not be the problem. But I did buy some sea foam. I will put some in next time I fill up which is most likely today. I'll post my new findings. I really appreciate your tips/suggestions. Thanks!!!!!! |

| are your pipes discoloring or do you get a strong gas smell from the exhaust. You would have to play with your carbs to fix it. If the previous owner rejet the bike then they could have adjusted the mixture screw a bit too much.
