Default Trouble Starting RM250

I just bought a 2001 RM250, it is very hard to start after it has been sitting for a week or so. Does anyone know of an easy way to start this bike?

I have a 91 and 96 250rm. they can be a pain to play with sometimes. but after a short time you'll learn how they run and operate.

check the spark plug makes sure its new or not fouled.
250rms love to foul plugs.

(i use and iriodium plug whitch runs pretty hott, i dont have as much problems with fouling)

good luck

no prob, iriodium plugs are awesome, mine used to have a problem with fouling them but this plug has proved itself worthy. i haven'y fouled it yet.

they are kind expensive compared to normal plugs. i got mine from the dealer for 10 bucks.

all the 250rms i've owned (all 3 of them : )

have had similar problems at one point in their lives. usually a good spark plug and occasionaly cleaning the carbuerator is just the trick.

one thing to remember is to not let the bike idle for a long time. the bike is made to be run hard and fast, if you cruise around slow on it or idle it for a while it tends to gum up the carb and plug. when i get of fthe track i usually shut mine off right away while it is hot and will burn all the build up off the plug.

Thanks for the advice, is it hard to clean the carb? How many times do you need to kick over before you bike starts? I let mine sit for 2 to 3 weeks before i take it out.

the carb is tricky to take apart and put back together; however, if you have a manual it helps. it takes someone with a little carburatuer experience to do it successfully.

my bike usually starts up on the 1rst or 2nd kick. i usually ride my bike at least once a week.
