| Aight, heres the deal. I just bought a 1992 RMX250 dirtbike the other day. Ive always rode four wheelers and only a few dirt bikes here and there but never owned one myself. I wanted a bike to just play around on and see how i liked it and i happen to run across a nice on pretty cheap. The needle stuck so i tore the carb apart and cleaned it and it runs like a champ. It really is a good bike and i just may enjoy it. But here's my questions... The thing will not idol no matter what i do with the idol screw but it will sittin there with the choke on during warm up. What could cause this and what can i do? And my other question may be a dumb on but what kind of oil should i put in the case? How often should i change it? and how do i know when its full? I know that sounds bad but i havent messed with many 2-strokes outside of doing a couple piston and ring jobs for a couple of people. THanks for all the help!

| You will have to adjust the throttle cable adjustment if the idle screw isn't doing anything. Watch out you don't make the tension too tight or else the bike will rev up when you turn the bars. Try to make it just so that it will die with the idle screw all the way out and then you can make it properly idle with the screw.

| Sounds to me if it will only idle with the choke on you may have a jetting issiue to deal with. Sounds like it could be way to lean. Check around this and other websites for information about jetting, there's tons of it out there. Perhaps there are other performance issues related to jetting that you are having but do not realize yet. Get some info!! As for oil, stick to a qualitly oil like Motul 5100, 10W-40 should do the trick just fine. The amount of oil your engine requires will be stamped on the engine case near the filler plug. As this measurment will be in CC's, buy yourself a $2 baby bottle and use it for measuring the oil when filling it again. Change the oil the at least after every couple of rides. After a while, with a visible inspection of the oil, you'll figure out from there if you should be doing it more or less often. Have fun, keep us posted.
