| I've had my 2000 DRZ400 for 3 days and now this: When replacing my spark plug this morning I had to clean off the head with some Carb/Brake cleaner to get the dirt from around the plug. There is a good possibility some of this dirt got back into the motor through the plug hole. Now the bike will not fire - what I mean is you can hear the starter motor turning over the crank and the compression strokes happening. But the sparkplug is dry. Meaning no fuel getting to the plug I assume. Is there a possibility that I didn't reset something or can I just assume a fuel line is plugged and take it in for a tune up? Needless to say I'm pretty frustrated with the bike right now. Any advise is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Poticus Maximus |

| A bike need three thiings to run... Fuel, spark, compression.... If you think there's compression, then take out the spark plug and ground it to the motor, and see if sparks (make sure kill switch is in run position). If it sparks, then you know it's fuel. To check for sure, pour a bit of gas in the chamber (just a bit). Gap the plug and put it back in. If it starts, then you know it's fuel. Start by taking the hose from the tank to the carb off, and see if gas comes out. If it does, then the problem is in the carb. If the carb is the problem, a lot of times cleaning it will fix it. I usually take it out, take it all apart (every screw, everything, but don't forget where everything goes). Take out all the seals, and let the carb soak in gas for a while. Put it back in, and kick it till it fires... P.S. (I'm not an expert, but this is what I would do) |
